
Engine is Out!

I have started stripping the engine of all ancillary components in preparation to lift the engine out of the engineroom. So far everything has come out without a struggle. Here are a few pictures of the progress…
In order to remove the engine and work on it onboard, I have removed the athwartships settee, and move it to a corner of the saloon. My decision to rebuild the engine came after deciding that the cost of having a boom crane come out to the house would just be prohibitively expensive. I received quotes of a 4hr minimum at $100/hr. Using a crane to remove and install the engine would put me out $800 right out of the starting gate…not an expense I want to pull out of the cruising kitty!
